PASA Firm Representatives – Become a Firm Representative

The Professional Accounting Society of America (PASA) relies on Firm Representatives to reach out to new members, network with existing members, and mentor the next generation of public accountants. The time commitment is minimal. We try to ask as little as possible from our Firm Reps.

The PASA Firm Reps’ responsibilities include the following:

1. First and foremost, invite others to join PASA. It’s a free accounting society, so you’re not selling anything. There are no membership quotas either. We trust our Firm Reps to do their best in growing the accounting society. Here are the groups of people we ask our Firm Reps to invite:

a. Co-workers (staff, seniors, managers and even partners), interns/new hires, and your office recruiters

b. Friends in the industry, former classmates, and professors

c. Accounting societies and students at your alma mater and other area colleges. The PASA University Liaisons will assist you and do most of the work with the universities.

2. Within the next 6 months: Complete one of the PASA Firm Surveys on the website. (We need more Firm Surveys before we can post the ones we have, so this is a PRIORITY. It has to do with some promises we made to certain accounting firms.)

or

Submit a short (250 word minimum) article related to public accounting. We have dozens of article ideas, both technical and informal. You can even write a short article about yourself or a co-worker for the “Accountant of the Week” Award, which will be given out soon.

That’s it. No other responsibilities. No major time commitment.

In return, here are the benefits of serving as a PASA Firm Rep:

1. You’re doing a good deed and helping others! PASA is run entirely by volunteers. All of the outreach to college students, networking events with other public accountants, scholarships we give away, and information we provide is facilitated by generous public accountants like you.

2. This kind of commitment looks good on a resume. It shows that you are committed to the industry and want to help the next generation of public accountants. Also, any articles you write will be published on our online news journal. Therefore, you can become a published author.

3. There is a financial incentive to serving as a PASA Firm Rep. The PASA website is a great networking tool. We’ll try to get you experienced hire referrals through our PASA Referral Program. In return, you may be eligible for a referral bonus from your accounting firms.
